Reflexology for babies

New frontiers are opening in treating babies and children by reflexology. More than a traditional reflexological treatment it is a mix of soft massage, reflexology and acupressure. In some Countries it is also named "Baby touch". It may stimulate digestion, muscle tone, aids relief in pain caused by colic (very common in some babies), theeting and congestion.

Further studies

Among the other studies in progress:

- precision reflexology and linking technique;
- chrono-skin-reflexology;
- clinical structural reflex zone therapy;
- vertical reflexology.

Allergies

In some centers (for example the Asthma and Allergy Center of the California University) they are testing these complementary techniques for allergy symptoms, expecially for sinus inflammation.

Eating disorders

As a support to some psychological interventions and as a soft procedure to stimulate a better homeostasis of the feed regulation mechanisms.

Sleeping disorders & deprivation

Reflexology is widely used for sleep disorders and relaxing, since several years, as they are two of the most diffused events for which stimulating specific reflexology points may be of rather fast help.
About deprivation, it is referred to those babies that, for any different reasons, have been prived of the normal family contact and physical stimulation.

Feet and hands are important terminals for reflexology

The hand and feet neuronal terminals in the brain are larger than those of other body parts. It means that they may better transmit signals and inputs to the central nervous system and to the brain systems.

Neurosciences research

   Neurology, so as psychobiology, are scientific sectors in fast develpoment during the latest years. Several discovers seem to support some complementary medicine knowledges, and among them reflexology.    Neuronal and brain plasticity, the psychoneuroendocrinoimmunology researches, etc. are opening perspectives that till few years ago seemed only hypotheses or false propositions.
